APPLICATION GAT-B / BET EXAM 2023: APPLICATION PROCESS, EXAM DATE, FEES, ELIGIBILITY

The GAT-B and BET EXAM 2023 are national-level entrance examinations for individuals seeking admission into postgraduate programs in Biotechnology and related fields, as well as those interested in pursuing research in cutting-edge areas of Biotechnology. These exams are supported by the Department of Biotechnology and allow participants to receive the DBT – Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF), which can be used to fund their research endeavours.

The NTA announces the conduct of GAT-B / BET 2023 as per the following details:

The fee is payable for GAT-B / BET –

1)General (UR)/ OBC-(NCL)/ EWS – 1200 RS

2)SC/ST/PwD – 600 RS

Eligibility criteria :

For GAT-B –

The minimum eligibility criteria for the GAT-B is a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in the branch of technology. Candidates may further verify the eligibility criteria on the Participating Institutions/ Universities website.

For BET –

Academic qualifications – Bachelors (B.E./ B.Tech./M.B.B.S) and Masters (M.Sc./ M.Tech./ M.VSc./M. Pharm./ Integrated M.Sc./ M.Tech.) in any discipline of Biotechnology, Life Sciences such as Biomedical, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Botany, Chemistry, Computational Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Zoology or any other allied areas of Biology/Life-Sciences.

Marks – Minimum 60% for General, EWS, OBC and 55% for SC/ ST/ Differently Abled candidates in aggregate.

Age limit – 1) General and EWS: 28 years 2)SC/ ST/ Differently Abled/ Women candidates: 33 years 3) OBC – 31 year

Candidate who has either appeared or is due to appear in the final examination of their qualifying degree is eligible to apply for GAT-B / BET 2023, under the result awaited ( RA) category.

How to apply :

Candidates must apply “Online” only for GAT-B 2023 or BET 2023 or for both by accessing the website: dbt.nta.ac.in.

Steps for online application –

Step-1: Register for Online Registration using your Email ID and Mobile No. and note down system generated Application Numbers.

Step-2: Complete the Online Application Form and note down the system-generated Application Number.

Step-3: Upload Scanned Images of the Candidate’s Photograph, Signature, Category Certificate (if applicable), and PwD Certificate (if applicable), Certificate for Appearing/Result Awaiting Candidates (wherever applicable):

ii. The recent photograph should be either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against a white background. (in jpg/ jpeg file, size 10Kb – 200Kb) either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against a white background;

iii. The size of the Scanned photograph and signature should be in JPG/JPEG format (clearly legible).

iv. The size of the scanned photograph should be between 10 kb to 200 kb (clearly legible).

v. The size of the scanned signature should be between 4 kb to 30 kb (clearly legible)

vi. The size of the scanned copy of the Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS etc.) should be in pdf between 50kb to 300kb (clearly legible).

vii. The size of the scanned copy of the PwD certificate should be in pdf between 50 kb to 300 kb (clearly legible)

viii. The size of the scanned Appearing/Result Awaiting Certificate should be in pdf between 50 kb to 300 kb (clearly legible)

Step-4: Pay the prescribed fee through Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI / Wallet and keep proof of fee paid for future reference.

Section A – Each question carries One (1) mark. There will be negative marking and for each incorrect response, half (1/2 or 0.5) mark will be deducted from the total marks.

Section B – Each question carries Three (3) marks. There will be negative marking and for each wrong response, One (1) mark will be deducted from the total marks.

What is GAT-B/BET- 2023?

1. Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) for admission to Department of Biotechnology supported Post Graduate Programme in Biotechnology and allied areas in participating Institutions.

I am M.Sc. 1st year student can I apply for DBT JRF (BET 2023)?

Yes, you can! Just provide the necessary documents prescribed by DBT and you can Apply for this.

What is the mode of conducting the GAT-B/BET Exam?

The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

Can I withdraw my application form and get refund of the fee paid?

No. You can neither withdraw your application nor get refund of the application fee paid.

Will the question paper be bi-lingual?

No, the question Paper will be in English only.
